Principal: Christchurch City Council
Installer: Connetics Christchurch
Product: VMS

Since this photo, the upright part of the Durham St column has been painted dark green by CSP Pacific to blend in with surrounding trees.
Christchurch City Council is in the process of installing Variable Message Signs on four of Christchurch's one-way road systems to efficiently manage traffic around the inner city.

The signs will provide real-time carpark information to motorists about the city's major carparks - and availability at each. The VMS receives information directly from the carpark computer in the Civic offices as each parking ticket is issued and returned.

The VMS's are supported by a CSP Pacific manufactured pole which is around 3m high, has a 300mm diameter nominal bore and an arm with a 7m reach. The pole is secured by a hold down reinforcing case, which has been installed in a 5 tonne block of concrete in the footpath.

"There is little tolerance for error on such a large arm. CSP did a great job to weld these up from scratch", says Phil Duns, Underground Manager for Connetics, Christchurch who installed the pole. "The client has been pleased with the outcome."
