Safence™
Wire Rope Safety Barrier
Safence™ is a wire rope crash barrier system from Blue Systems in Sweden. It is a fully tensioned, 3 rope system meaning the deflection is kept to a minimum and it is very simple to install and maintain. It passed NCHRP350 Test Level 3 and 4 and as such can be used on NZ State Highways. Standards and Approvals
Safence 3 Rope System
Safence™ has been tested to NCHRP350 Test Level 3 and 4 and as such is approved by NZTA for use on NZ State Highways at the following criteria:

Wire Rope
- Right Hand Lay, 19.0 mm Diameter 3 x 7 (1 x 3.15 mm + 6 x 3.0 mm) in accordance with AS3569 - 1989
- Pre-tensioned to 120 kN
- The wire is galvanized with a coating mass of 400 g/m² compared to a minimum requirement of 240 g/m² in AS1394 'Round Steel Wire for Ropes'.
Post
- Cold formed post 1230mm long, Gauge 4.0 mm, Material to AS1594, Grade 250
- Galvanized in accordance with AS1650
End Anchor
- Material Hot Rolled Steel to AS3678, Grade 250
- Galvanized in accordance with AS1650
Swage & Screw Fittings
- All stainless steel - Grade 304
