Raptor crash cushion - improving the safety of utility poles and trees

The Raptor is the world’s first safety device designed to reduce the severity of errant vehicle impacts with utility poles or trees.

The unique Raptor is fully recyclable and is a highly compact alternative solution to a full-scale crash cushion, especially at sites where space is limited.

It offers exceptional vehicle control and energy absorbing capabilities:

  • Head-on impacts - where the energy is absorbed by internal plastic cartridges
  • Side-on angled impacts - where the vehicle is redirected safely

CSP Pacific’s SuperSpan Arch saves time and money at Mangorewa Gorge

The $4.5 million Mangorewa/Kaharoa Gorge Improvement project involves the replacement of the one-lane Ohaupara Stream and Mangorewa Stream bridges with two-lane bridges and realignment and widening of a 900m section of road.

The Mangorewa Stream offered the designers several challenges when deciding the best way to upgrade the current single-lane bridge and roadway whilst allowing SH36 to operate during construction. CSP Pacific’s SuperSpan Arch was the chosen option offering road access during construction and a considerable cost saving compared with building a complete new two-lane bridge.

Oclyte Tuff Coat™ required for tough Wellington conditions

When Willie Mandeno from Opus International Consultants, was completing his periodic structural inspection of the Ngauranga Flyover on behalf of NZTA, he noticed a horizontal rust stain on one of the lighting columns.

“I happened to notice a rust stain at the base weld of one of the columns,” said Willie. “It looked very much like a fatigue crack which is something that could occur with the extreme wind loading that this location produces. I took photographs and forwarded them to CSP Pacific who recommended that the column be removed for closer inspection of the weld.”

Nu-Guard 31™ Steel Guardrail system a hit with installers

The SH1 Northern Motorway extension known as ALPURT B2 opened to the public in January this year creating a four lane highway from the Bombay Hills through to the Johnson Hill tunnel.

The New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) has, since the opening of the extension, focused their attention on upgrading the section of road between Puhoi and Warkworth with safety features to match the $365 million new toll road, which carries between 12,000 and 14,000 vehicles daily.
