Works to improve the Lincoln Road to Westgate section of the Western Ring Route have included the creation of three lanes for traffic each way and upgrades of the Royal Road on/off ramps and bridge - including the installation of brand new slimline streetlighting columns positioned in the median barrier. With the timeline too tight for overseas supplied columns, the contractor came to CSP Pacific.

The 7.8 magnitude earthquake that struck Kaikoura in November 2016 resulted in widespread damage to property, including key infrastructure such as the Waima Rail Overpass in Southern Marlborough. With the rail overpass - which features a Steel Multiplate Arch structure supplied by CSP Pacific around 35 years ago - deemed unsafe to remain open to rail, North Canterbury Infrastructure Recovery asked the team at CSP Pacific to assist with repairs to get it back up to speed.

A set of CSP Pacific’s Portable Traffic lights had a great view of the Clarence River at Kaikoura recently when they were airlifted into the area by NCTIR. The airlifting of equipment and people into Kaikoura has become necessary due to the large slip at Ohau Point, resulting in a road trip from Christchurch to Clarence River now taking around eight hours.

Based on feedback from streetlight contractors we have widened the gear door on CSP Pacific’s range of Oclyte® Subdivision Columns to allow easier access. Previously the gear door was 150mm H x 75mm W making access inside the column difficult. While the width of the gear door is limited by the across the flats dimension and the structural integrity of the column, after running the calculations we have been able to increase the width to 90mm without affecting the performance of the column.

All subdivision columns will now be supplied with the wider gear door.
